What a brilliant day Monika Wandzik, Hilmi Osman and  Amy Flanagan had at London Build last month. The show celebrated its tenth year in style and the focus on MMC felt stronger than ever.

The event was packed with informative, thought provoking and genuinely inspiring panel sessions, but the MMC stage is where everything really clicked. Between sessions we met with likeminded associates in the central disco area which had a DJ playing all day, performers on stilts, disco ball heads, Charlie Chaplin, a violinist and more than enough surprises to keep everyone entertained. Only at London Build.

A standout moment came during the panel on Breaking the Mould and How Digital Innovation is Reinventing MMC chaired by Tim Carey from Mace. Raynee De Zoysa stole the show with her AI light bulb moment, realising she basically has her own Jarvis from Iron Man. Many heads nodded in agreement.

We also enjoyed the Meet the Architects, Contractors and Developers Embracing Modular Construction panel with Ayna Azhigali from HKR Architects. The conversation was full of energy and honesty with comments including how offsite manufacturing could ride in like the cavalry to help solve the UK housing crisis and how factory sign off saves valuable time on site. There was also an important reminder that the wider industry still underestimates the quality of modular housing.

A fantastic event, great conversations and lots of optimism for the future of MMC. London Build certainly knows how to make learning entertaining.
